My disease is as rare as it is famous. Basically, I’m allergic to the world. I don’t leave my house, have not left my house in seventeen years. The only people I ever see are my mom and my nurse, Carla.

But then one day, a moving truck arrives next door. I look out my window, and I see him. He’s tall, lean and wearing all black—black T-shirt, black jeans, black sneakers, and a black knit cap that covers his hair completely. He catches me looking and stares at me. I stare right back. His name is Olly.

Maybe we can’t predict the future, but we can predict some things. For example, I am certainly going to fall in love with Olly. It’s almost certainly going to be a disaster.

"Maybe growing up means disappointing the people we love."

Right from the beginning, I loved this book. I devoured it in one sitting — it was THAT good. I don't even have words to describe how I feel about it, to be honest. I loved the characters, the writing style, and just everything about it.

I loved Madeline's character. She was brave, strong, and didn't want to lose hope about the things happening in her life. I felt connected to her and was so emotionally invested in her story. There were certain parts in the novel where I felt for her. The life she had spent the past 17 years wasn't so easy. I can't even imagine what it would be like to be in her shoes.

The romance was really adorable. Both the characters seemed perfect for each other. I'd thought that there would be insta-love but there wasn't. Everything took its time. Nothing felt forced.

The ending was so freaking incredible!! I didn't see that plot twist coming and it kind of blew me away. Seriously guys, this book is amazing and YOU HAVE TO GO READ IT NOW if you haven't already!

Overall, this was such a unique, powerful, lovely, and heart-wrenching read. I'd highly recommend it to everyone! I'm sure you guys will end up loving it as well :)

SPOILER:
I can't even imagine what it was like for Madeline when she came to know that her mom was lying to her all her life, and that she wasn't sick at all. It felt terrible. Though, I can understand why her mom did that. She didn't want to lose Madeline. After her husband and son's deaths, she was the only one she had as a family. But, I certainly agree that what she did was extreme. She shouldn't have done that with her.
But I loved that there was a happy ending and that Madeline went to New York for a better future with Olly.

  2. This sounds so intriguing! I wasn't sure I'd really like it before, because these sorts of books don't tend to be my kind of thing, but you might have just convinced me! The cover is so beautiful too, I think it would be a great buy, even if I don't end up liking the book, haha :)

    Great review, Shikha ♥
