Book Cover Guessing Challenge

Hey guys! The wonderful Fiona from A Girl Between the Pages tagged us to do this challenge! Thanks for the tag, Fiona!

So, what's basically going to happen is I am going to choose some books that I don't know much about and try to guess the synopsis based off of the cover. Once I'm done guessing, I'm going to compare my guess to the synopsis on Goodreads and see how well I did.

Alright, let's get started!

My guess: Okay, I'm thinking that in this book the main character is a human, then one day the apocalypse begins and angels begin falling from heaven. He/she meets one and the

angel is very attractive and they fall for each other as they try to save the world! (Very cliche guess, I know, please don't hurt me)

Goodreads Summary: It's been six weeks since angels of the apocalypse descended to demolish the modern world. Street gangs rule the day while fear and superstition rule the night. When warrior angels fly away with a helpless little girl, her seventeen-year-old sister Penryn will do anything to get her back.

Anything, including making a deal with an enemy angel.

Raffe is a warrior who lies broken and wingless on the street. After eons of fighting his own battles, he finds himself being rescued from a desperate situation by a half-starved teenage girl.

Traveling through a dark and twisted Northern California, they have only each other to rely on for survival. Together, they journey toward the angels' stronghold in San Francisco where she'll risk everything to rescue her sister and he'll put himself at the mercy of his greatest enemies for the chance to be made whole again.

Reaction: Okay, wow, that sounds a lot better than mine! I wasn't that far off though... ;) Dang... I think this is moving up on my TBR list... Despite what I've heard about the sequel!

Alrighty, let's move on to..

My guess: Hmmm.. Okay, I'm leaning towards a male protagonist for this one.. And I'm thinking there isn't a love interest either... Okay, so Mr. Male Protagonist was born and raised to do this one job that somehow involves saving the world. They knew the world would end, and had even predicted the date. However, the apocalypse starts much earlier than expected, and Mr. Protagonist hasn't finished his training. He'll have to wing it to save the world.

Goodreads SummaryThe year is 2059. Nineteen-year-old Paige Mahoney is working in the criminal underworld of Scion London, based at Seven Dials, employed by a man named Jaxon Hall. Her job: to scout for information by breaking into people's minds. For Paige is a dreamwalker, a clairvoyant and, in the world of Scion, she commits treason simply by breathing.

It is raining the day her life changes for ever. Attacked, drugged and kidnapped, Paige is transported to Oxford – a city kept secret for two hundred years, controlled by a powerful, otherworldly race. Paige is assigned to Warden, a Rephaite with mysterious motives. He is her master. Her trainer. Her natural enemy. But if Paige wants to regain her freedom she must allow herself to be nurtured in this prison where she is meant to die.

The Bone Season introduces a compelling heroine and also introduces an extraordinary young writer, with huge ambition and a teeming imagination. Samantha Shannon has created a bold new reality in this riveting debut.

Reaction: Oh my. I was way off! Mr. Male Protagonist was wrong... *sniffles*  Haha, oh well, this sounds way better than mine! Can't wait to pick it up... (It's even worse because I actually bought this book in hardback and yet I had no clue what it was about XD)

Alrighty, and last on today's tag is:

My guess: So, Ms. Protagonist works for this guy who looks really young but in reality is thousands of years old. This man's job is to watch over the souls of all those who have died and she is his apprentice. One day someone begins stealing the souls and unleashing them on the world, and Ms. Protagonist has to stop the resulting chaos.

Goodreads Summary:   Imagine a place where the dead rest on shelves like books.

Each body has a story to tell, a life seen in pictures only Librarians can read. The dead are called Histories, and the vast realm in which they rest is the Archive.

Da first brought Mackenzie Bishop here four years ago, when she was twelve years old, frightened but determined to prove herself. Now Da is dead, and Mac has grown into what he once was: a ruthless Keeper, tasked with stopping often violent Histories from waking up and getting out. Because of her job, she lies to the people she loves, and she knows fear for what it is: a useful tool for staying alive.

Being a Keeper isn't just dangerous—it's a constant reminder of those Mac has lost, Da's death was hard enough, but now that her little brother is gone too, Mac starts to wonder about the boundary between living and dying, sleeping and waking. In the Archive, the dead must never be disturbed. And yet, someone is deliberately altering Histories, erasing essential chapters. Unless Mac can piece together what remains, the Archive itself may crumble and fall.

Reaction: Hey, not that bad! I can't wait to read this one either, it sounds amazing! (Plus Victoria Schwab is a genius!)

I may not have been very accurate, but oh well!

I haven't read The Archived yet, but I've read some other of the author's books, and they were really good. I'm hoping to read it soon!
